LACTIC ACID It is a multifunctional ingredient used as a preservative, exfoliant, moisturiser and to acidify a formulation. In the body, it is present in blood and muscle tissue as a product of glucose and glycogen metabolism. It is also one of the components of the skin's natural moisturising factor. Lactic acid has better water-binding abilities than glycerine. Studies show that lactic acid is able to increase the ability of the stratum corneum to retain water. Lactic acid is used to diminish the signs of ageing, wrinkles and fine lines, and make the skin softer and smoother. NANNOCHLOROPSIS OCULATA EXTRACT/PULLULAN This is a single-celled green micro-algae that can live in both fresh and sea water. It is an alga that is very rich in nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins, polysaccharides and lipids and is therefore part of the diet of many aquatic organisms. Extract of nannochloropsis oculata is therefore rich in nutrients as well as polysaccharides which, together with pullulan (a naturally occurring polysaccharide produced by the fungus Aureobasidium pullulans), offer a tightening and moisturising effect when applied to the skin. LACTICOMACROCYSTIS PYRIFERAEXTRACT/HYDROLYZEDWHEAT PROTEIN Macrocystis pyrifera is a giant laminar seaweed found in the Pacific Ocean. It is an algae rich in nutrients and polysaccharides, in particular polymannuronates which, together with hydrolysed wheat proteins, give the complex film-forming and moisturising properties. PROTEINORNITHINE CARRIED IN IONOSOMES Ornithine is an amino acid, biotechnologically obtained from maize and potato starch, capable of positively influencing various metabolic processes linked to the accumulation of lipids in adipocytes. In particular, it helps stimulate the maturation of pre-adipocytes into adipocytes, stimulates adipogenesis (the process of lipid synthesis) and inhibits lipolysis (the opposite process to adipogenesis), for a plumping effect.
